Eilean Donan Castle or the castle that was built on the island once belonging to an early Christian cleric called Donan is a much visited castle on the road to Skye in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Here it is seen from the west across a sea loch in high colour at the end of a bright August day. Photographs of the castle have appeared on many Christmas shortbread tins from different angles. It is an important tourist destination and attracts many visitors each year.
